Depth of Fields: Giles Babbidge - Part 2 - Page 3
Written by Jason Elliot

Giles BabbidgeHave you ever seen the U.S. version of The Office? Does Steve Carell do as good of a job as Ricky Gervais?

I have seen the U.S. version – I do like it, but it’s quite a different show compared to the UK version. When The Office came out in this country, it broke the mould; there was nothing like it. So I would say Steve Carell has done a very good job, as good as Ricky Gervais, but I’m not sure the two can be directly compared.

I was in the middle of a soccer brawl when the West Hampshire Hammers played a U.S. pro soccer team. Have you ever been in the middle or part of a soccer scrum?

Definitely not – I’ve never been in a fight! Also football, although it’s our nation’s favorite sport, has never really appealed to me.

Who would you rather photograph – Pippa Middleton or Chelsy Davy?

I'd have to say Pippa Middleton. She's got a nice classical look, which would translate really well into the right, well thought-out photograph.

I’ve read every James Bond book (over 30) including the non-Ian Fleming ones. No one will ever do Bond better than Sean Connery, but I really enjoy Daniel Craig’s gritty and dark depiction of a younger 007. What are your and the consensus UK opinion of how he’s doing?

I have to agree, I think Sean Connery was the best Bond. I think the general opinion is that he and Roger Moore did the best job. Daniel Craig somehow doesn’t fit in the same way, but equally, the modern Bond films are quite different to those of the past – they’re a different kind of spy/action film now.
