Maple Leaf Strange Brew Award

An ode to the growing number of Canadian gear companies. The entry fee for Canadian companies to be included in the future is two cases of Labatt Blue and a few dozen Tim Horton donuts.

Canada Goose HyBridge Light Jacket

Canada Goose took their Thermal Mapping technology and combined it with the industry trend of a paper-thin shell. The result is the HyBridge Light Jacket, an ultralight shell comprised of Hutterite white goose down and Polartec Power Stretch fabric.

Canada Goose designed the shell for layering. Use it as an outershell or a mid layer. Thumb loops integrate the HyBridge Jacket with gloves. And when it gets too hot, stuff it in you pack. It won't take up much space since it weighs only .5 pound. (MSRP $450)

Adrenaline Overload Award

Guaranteed to smash your endorphins to smithereens and has the potential to inflict bodily harm.

Ortovox Mountain Skyver

Avalanche beacons are the calling card for Ortovox. But this year's Outdoor Retailer showcased emerging product lines from the company including new packs and apparel.

And Ortovox decided to develop the Mountain Skyver, a bike built for downhill speed. The Skyver will pulverize your endorphins.

Fold-up and pack the Skyver in the custom-built backpack, hike to the top of your fav mountain biking trail and equip yourself with pads and a helmet. Now, the heart stopping fun starts.

The bike does not have a seat or full functioning pedals and crankset. But Ortovox has designed it with front and rear disc brakes and a full suspension.

Place you feet on the foldable foot pegs and let it loose for a full-on downhill terror ride. When you get to the bottom, wipe the permagrim off your face and revel in the natural high. Then throw the Ortovox Mountain Skyver in the pack and give it another go.

To claim your Mountain Skyver, catch a flight to Europe. It won't be distributed in North America.
