VestPac: a lightweight solution for hydration and personal electronic devices

VestPac Logoimages/VestPacKeeping your gear light without sacrificing functionality is a goal when preparing for a day outdoors. VestPac, based in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, is bringing a minimalist attitude in a new line of modular hydration packs.

The Vestpac is touted as the first modular hydration pack featuring a chest panel designed to carry personal electronic devices, tools and other essentials. A VestPac is a vest equipped with a front panel with multiple pockets and a hydration reservoir sleeve in the rear panel.

GloveTips releases solution for cold weather touchscreen use

GloveTips, a suburban Cleveland, Ohio company, is touting a solution to this problem. GloveTips are small flexible disks that you mount on your gloves to make them touchscreen compatible.

ToeSox sprints into the running market with ULTRA Sport line

Toesox Logoimages/ToeSoxToeSox has introduced a line of socks for the running market – ULTRA Sport. The ULTRA Sport line premiered at the Pilates Method Alliance conference in Long Beach, California in early November.

ToeSox has been focused on barefoot activities like yoga, Pilates, martial arts and dance before the release of the ULTRA Sport line.

The ULTRA Sport is touted by ToeSox as the only socks wide with Cocona. Cocona is lauded for its cooling and odor reduction capabilities and is a preferred fabric for many outdoor enthusiasts. The new sock line features a cushion sole and heel, ventilated knit top and arch support band.

La Sportiva Launches RT Ski Binding

Long been a leader in developing hiking, mountaineering and rock climbing gear, La Sportiva is introducing the RT tech binding for the 2010/2011 ski season. The RT binding includes four patents – toe release adjustment, a heel with two release adjustments, integrated crampon attachments and heel pins. Also, the RT tech binding offers a 3-position heel riser in touring mode.

La Sportiva is planning a ski line for the ski mountaineer in 2011.

V.I.O. releases POV.HD their first high def video camera

V.I.O. Logoimages/V.I.O.V.I.O, a Marquette, Michigan based developer of professional-grade point-of-view camera systems, has announced the release of their first high-definition video camera – POV.HD.

The POV.HD's design separates the recorder and camera head opposed to integrating both. The result is a two-ounce camera head that can be goggle or helmet mounted. The camera head is connected to the recording unit by a one-and-a-half meter digital audio/video cable.

Skiing champion Lindsey Vonn chooses Oakley ski goggles for the 2014 Olympics

Oakley_LogoOakley, Inc. released a press release stating that Lindsey Vonn, Olympic and World Cup skiing champion, has chosen Oakley as her provider of ski goggles and sunglasses. Oakley did not report on the length of the agreement but stated that Vonn would be using Oakley goggles at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. The Vonn sponsorship follows Oakley's recent agreement to become a supplier for the U.S. Ski Team.

Oakley is looking to gain added exposure for their High Definition Optics technologies from these recent sponsorship agreements. According to Oakley, HDO provides superior clarity, unrivaled impact protection and 100% UV filtering.
