Easton Mountain Products, Ruffwear and GoLite Footwear news from the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market
Written by Jason Elliot

The Outdoor Retailer Summer Market will barrel to a screeching halt on Friday but not before some innovative and unique products are introduced to retailers and consumers.

The classic movie Scarface is synonymous with a ‘kilo’.  Easton Mountain Products is looking to change that association with their ultra light two-person three-season Kilo tent. As the name applies, the tent weighs less than a kilo – 910 grams. Easton touts the low weight to carbon poles that are 56-percent lighter than traditional aluminum poles with shock cords. The Kilo will be available to consumers in Spring 2011 at a suggested retail price at $399.

The Tara Lite from GoLite Footwear is designed to meet the expanding demand for low-profile trail running shoes. The Tara Lite has an internal sandal thong to help prevent excessive foot movement. The outsole is designed with 300 small lugs that are touted for their stickiness just like the hair on a gecko’s feet. The Tara Lite will be at retailers in the Spring of 2011 with a suggested retail price of $115.

Ruff Wear, a leader in canine outdoor gear, is launching the Polar Trex Dog Boots in October 2010. The boot’s upper is advertised as wind and weather resistant. Ruffwear partnered with Vibram to create an outsole for the Polar Trex Boot. The boot has a suggested retail price of $89.95.
