Lafuma integrates innovative features and technology into the Sky Race OT trail running shoe. Instead of using Gore-Tex, Lafuma uses OutDry, a new technology that is advertised as 100% waterproof and highly breathable. The lacing system steers far from conventional. A dual toggle system gives you the ability to adjust the upper and lower parts of the shoe differently.

The Lafuma Sky Race OT has a mesh upper and a synthetic lining. It has an EVA midsole and a Vibram outersole. The mid-set lugs are 'spot on' for a trail running shoe. The arch support is sufficient and the fit was perfect giving enough room in the toe box without it being too roomy.

OutDry_LogoThe real intriguing feature is the use of OutDry. Gore-Tex has been typically used for waterproofing in athletic and outdoor shoes. The OutDry membrane did what it is advertised to accomplish – keep your feet dry. And it lets your dogs breathe and lets your foot perspiration evaporate.

The only negative from the shoe is the lacing system. It makes you do a double take when you first see it. Although, it was tough to warm up to. The flap that covers the top toggle can become cumbersome especially if you need to stop mid-run and make an adjustment.

Lafuma_LogoThe Lafuma Sky Race OT brings some intriguing features to life. If you can get past the inventive lacing system, you got a winner of a trail runner on your hands (well, really on your feet). Lafuma lists the Sky Race OT at $139.95.
