Related Articles... The shoe’s name implies mind warping abilities, but Perpetuum Last, a technology used in the Vasque Mindbender, is billed to give the shoe stability. The technology touts the shoe as a trail runner for longer distances, because it has a roomier toe box and a tailored instep to reduce foot movement. The Mindbender has an upper constructed of nylon and leather and sports a nylon lining. The midsole is EVA (scientifically known as Ethylene vinyl acetate), a lighter alternative to a polyurethane midsole. And each shoe tips the scale at twenty-three ounces. Vasque designed the outsole with an aggressive lug pattern, so the shoe can adapt to changing terrains.Cute and catchy names for a technology sometimes is part of an expensive marketing and advertising campaign with little money spent on R&D. The Perpetuum Last is not an advertising gimmick. The technology does what it is billed to do. The Mindbender proved its stability when attacking the trails. It performed admirably when taking on steep hills. It stabilizes and propels you forward. Snappy and inspired strides are also a result of its light weight.
