Tara Wojtczak Ondish

Tara Wojtczak Ondish Tara Wojtczak Ondish is an English Instructor at Florida State College and was the Director of the college’s Learning Center. Ondish previously was an adjunct faculty member in Daytona Beach Community College’s English department.

A mother of two nature inspired daughters, Ondish has always been interested in helping children integrate fitness and an appreciation of nature and has worked with Waldorf and Montessori schools, both of whose teaching philosophies integrate natural living and respect for the environment into their pedagogies.

Ondish enjoys traveling and taking on challenges of the outdoors.  She practices yoga, regularly kayaks the estuaries in the Florida intercoastal waterways, and explores trails along the St. Johns River with her family.  In the cooler winter months, she canoes the Juniper Creek run and camps in the Ocala National Forest.

Some of Ondish’s favorite excursions have included backpacking through Arizona and the canyons of northern and southern Utah, taking in the views hiking through the Gorge du Verdon, in southeastern France, and hiking to the cloud forest waterfalls of the Pico Bonito National Forest in Honduras.

Ondish is originally from the Pittsburgh, PA area and holds a bachelor's degree in English Literature from Clarion University of Pennsylvania. Ondish lives in Jacksonville with her husband, Mark, her two young daughters and their dog, Macy.  Together they enjoy family camping excursions, ride the surf and run nature trails in Northern Florida.
