Bar Napkin Award

Get all your top designers to the bar, give them endless rum and Cokes and wait for the wild ingenuity.

Julbo Ultra

The French eyewear manufacturer, Julbo, must have gathered their designers at Harry's New York Bar in Paris,  the place where the Bloody Mary was invented, for drinks.

After bottles of regional white wines and many sips of liqueur, the French designers would have doodled on bar napkins until the Ultra was conceived.

The Ultra coupled with the Julbo NXT Zebra Light lens gives protection from the sun for hikes, runs and rides. The fogless photochromatic lens adjusts to low to bright lights and they are advertised as unbreakable.

The lenses are soft and pliable. Take a lense between your thumb and index finger and flex away. The flexible construction helps when you superman over your handlebars. The Zebra Light lenses will flex but not break reducing your chance of an eye injury. The Julbo Ultra hits shelves in September 2011. (MSRP $170)

Olukai Maliko

Olukai has positioned itself as a company that produces high quality footwear that borrows from Hawaiian heritage. The Maliko goes from water to land on any of the Hawaiian Islands or the mainland.

Use it to straddle your stand-up paddling board and then take them on land for a beach or trail run or canyoneering.

The Olukai Maliko sports a minimalist design characterized by its split toe mesh upper design that stabilizes your foot so it doesn't shift. The outsole has suction-cup like design to help scaling slippery rocks. Olukai designed water resistant insoles that are molded for added arch support and heel cushioning. The Maliko will be available in Spring 2012. (MSRP $100)
