Montrail has been an innovator of outdoor footwear for years, and their “Find Your Shoe” system is a way to figure out which shoe best suits your needs. Whether a lightweight trail running shoe or something for a day hike, you’ll be able to find it if Montrail makes it. I was in the market for a day hiking shoe to wear on approaches to crags on climbing trips. After choosing my gender, the surfaces I’d be using the shoes, my build and foot type, the “Find Your Shoe” system suggested the Women’s AT Plus as one of the perfect options. The AT Plus has many features that make it ideal for a fast day. Montrail’s Gryptonite sticky rubber with a unusual lug pattern makes up the entire outsole, and it feels more durable than other light hiking shoes. Gryptonite is engineered to perform on both dry and wet surfaces, making the AT Plus perfect for running in the woods. The compression molded midsole and internal pods in the heel and sole provide great cushioning, and the breathable nylon mesh upper coupled with a synthetic rand make the shoe supportive and durable.
Montrail offers the shoe in one color option – green and purple. It would be great to see additional color choices for the Montrail AT Plus. ($115)
