Ryan Teixeira doesn't just dream of his next adventures, he makes them happen. Teixeira, a successful and ambitious mechanical engineer, left his 16-year professional career including his work on the Tesla Motors Roadster to follow his passions. He made the bold decision to gear down from the hustle of the corporate world to pursue being a 'business man' in adventure travel.

Teixeira's credentials are alone adventurous:

  • Competing professionally in motorcycle road racing - AMA 600 SuperSport and AFM 600
  • Mountain biking through Australia, Central America and California
  • Trad climbing through Yosemite National Park
  • Shredding powder on skis and snowboard in the Western U.S. and Canada along with Switzerland and Italy
  • Surfing throughout the shorelines of South America
  • Traveling and adventure-seeking around the world
  • Student of traditional martial arts for over a decade

Teixeira's took his credentials and passion for adventure and started U R FREE 2BU in March 2010. Changing careers was a radical move but also was his relocation from the familiar confines of Northern California to the coastline of Nicaragua.

Teixeira decision to simplify his life is due to his mantra – Want Less, Have More. His move to Nicaraqua made him 'scale' down and reduce the material things that occupy most people's lives to focus on experiences and adventures.

U_R_FREE_2BU_LogoPart of his drive is to bring great adventures to others that want to experience thrilling destinations and activities. Teixeira will be guiding an upcoming biking and surfing trip in June for U R FREE 2BU.

This is part 1 of a 2 part series on Ryan Teixeira & U R FREE 2BU. Part 2 focuses on an adventure travel excursion in June.
